I ordered two carnitas and one beef enchilada. Took another chance on eating at El Camino restaurant in the Highlands area of Denver. Definitely a place to which we will return and bring friends, especially to enjoy the live Flamenco Saturday Brunches/Lunches. When we were there, there was a mix of singles, couples, groups, families with children-just like the neighborhood in which it is situated. Upon payment of the 500 deposit, the vehicle will be held for 72 hours pending final payment. They have daily specials such as Taco Tuesdays, Tequila Thursdays, early and late happy hours. If you are a beer lover, they serve several local beers and quite a few others. Definitely a place to go for that neighborhood feel of Highlands in Denver AND if want to support an establishment that combines quality with consciousness by its practices of where it sources its ingredients, how it recycles its materials, energizes its facility (wind) etc. This is a tavern so don't expect a 5-course meal, but the food is fresh and delicious, we love that the drinks are made fresh and from fresh ingredients (yum!) ,the service was friendly, and we were made to feel most welcome.

The vibe is pretty eclectic and laid back. I highly recommend El Camino any time of the day. I must say El Camino's huevos rancheros were one of the most deliciously satisfying I have ever had (except for my momma's home made Mexican dishes of course). I tend to order huevos rancheros every Mexican restaurant I go to. I had their huevos rancheros with mimosas and my husband had chilaquiles with margaritas. On our last day in Denver, we went back to El Camino for brunch. My husband had their nachos and margaritas as well. Their dishes are well portioned and authentic with a fusion twist. Add carnitas, shredded chicken, chorizo, or tempeh +4, grilled chicken breast +5, add steak or shrimp +7. Delicious! None of that "fill your plate with a HUGE portion of so called Mexican rice & beans" stuff. Thick-cut chips smothered with green chili, topped with black beans, melted cheese, crema, pickled jalapeños, pico, and cilantro.
